The exfoliation and suction power through the microdermabrasion and healing antibacterial treatment of the omnilux
Microdermabrasion and Omnilux (with the i-clear blue light) at the Vein and Skin Clinic is a process of extracting the bacteria caused by acne through exfoliation and suction and then utilising the blue lights healing power to clear the skin of said bacteria. It is a safe and gradual process to treat the active acne stage.
At the Vein and Skin Clinic we can recommend a treatment programme which incorporates our microdermabrasion / omnilux treatment along with asap chemical peels to help stop the active break outs.
We also recommend an at home skincare regime with our asap cosmeceutical range.
Once we have treated the active acne, we also have the capabilities to treat acne scarring. See our Fraxel, Dermapen and RF Secret Dermapen pages for more information.
If you suffer from active acne or acne scarring, book in to see one of our cosmetic nurses for a complimentary consultation and begin your journey towards a fresher, more confident you.
Acne can cause a lot of anxiety and strife for sufferers. It is hard to find a method of treatment which will work for you, with an abundance of ‘miracle creams’ and celebrity endorsed products.
At the Vein and Skin Clinic, we aim to work with you to provide results. We have a range of specifically targeted cosmeceuticals and medical devices which are designed to treat acne. We also have skin specialist doctors onsite, who are able to prescribe medication.
Â
Hormonal acne is caused by a build up of sebum in the sebaceous gland. The overproduction leads to the excess oil and bacteria forming a pustule on the skin. Once the pustule is exposed to the air (ie – you’ve squeezed it) it is open to a host of infections. This can lead to scarring and permanent damage.
While acne is most common in teenagers, it also affects adults. It is a cause for much anxiety and ultimately depression. Â
Microdermabrasion clears away skin debris by using crystals. This is achieved by the projection of small calcium hydroxyapatite crystals on the skin surface. Suction is applied simultaneously to help clear blocked pores.
Microdermabrasion can be used in conjunction Blue light- Omnilux, IPL, Fraxel and Dermapen (including RF Dermapen)
Microdermabrasion improves the appearance of fine lines, superficial pigmentation, enlarged pores and uneven skin texture (including scarring and ageing).Â
Microdermabrasion is not a treatment to correct deeper lines or deeper skin pigmentation.
Vein and Skin Clinic recommends a series of six or more treatments, one week apart, for maximum results. Treatments last 30 minutes and are performed by one of the Vein and Skin Clinic’s experienced nurses.Â
A treatment plan involving mild peels, micro-dermabrasion and Fraxel is often recommended for post acne scarring.Â
Light therapy has long been used as a short term treatment for acne. iClear is a medical device that uses LED (Light Emitting Devices) technology which uses deep penetrating light therapy (405-420 nm), generated by purpose built flourescent lighting, dichroic bulbs, LEDs or lasers. iClear light therapy irradiates porphyrin (a toxin produced by P.acnes – acne bacteria). Free radicals are produced. If treatment is applied over several days, these free radicals can kill bacteria that cause acne.
Since porphyrins are not otherwise present in skin, and no UV (Ultra Violet) light is employed, it appears to be safe, and has been licensed by the U.S. FDA (United States Food and Drug Administration).Â
Used twice weekly, iClear can reduce the number of acne lesions. Results are even better if a mixture of iClear blue light and Omnilux red or yellow light is used. Few side effects are experienced. Results are longer lived when compared to topical or oral antibiotic acne treatments. Conjunction with microdermabrasion also improves results. Â
I-clear blue light treatment can temporarily clear mild to moderate acne.
You will lie down while a light is applied close to your skin. Treatments are painless, relaxing and typically take about 30minutes. Side effects are mild. 8 sessions may be needed over a month’s time.Â
The cost of this procedure varies according to the areas that require treatment and whether the area is treated alone or in conjunction with other areas. (This is most common).
Q card and other payment options available.
Southern Cross affiliated and covered by most other insurers (for Varicose Vein Treatment).
